Ms. Rori Hutcheson

Teacher Bio

Welcome to the visual arts classroom! I’m Ms. Hutcheson, a passionate visual arts teacher with a unique journey that has shaped my approach to education. Originally from South Dakota, I moved to a suburb of Houston, Texas, when I was nine, and after completing junior college, I returned to South Dakota to finish my degree at Northern State University in Aberdeen.

Before diving into teaching, I explored various roles, each one tied to education in some way. This diverse background has enriched my perspective and deepened my commitment to helping students thrive. Art has always been my true focus, providing a channel for creativity and concentration that I’m eager to share with my students.

In my classroom, I offer a wide range of artistic experiences, including drawing, mixed media, photography, crafts, ceramics, sculpture, block printing, digital graphics, and painting. I take immense joy in watching students grow and refine their artistic skills, and I strive to build meaningful connections with each one. Beyond art, I’m here to support and guide my students in any way I can.

My upperclassmen have the opportunity to showcase their talents in various competitions, such as state art contests, the Northern State University High School Workshop, Dakota Prairie, and the State Fair Art Show. Additionally, students are encouraged to explore and enter various art competitions across the state.

I’m excited to embark on this artistic journey with you and see where your creativity will take you!
