The Patriots football team gets back on track this week with a win over Iroquois/Lake Preston 62 to 8. I tell our players often "our lineman on offense and defense are the foundation of our team." On the sixth play of the game, #56 Dalton Rathjen pressures the QB of ILP and he ends up throwing a ball directly to #88 Jackson Maynard, who intercepts the ball and drags a few players six yards. This set-up our first score, a six yard pass from #3 Brendan Nowell to #23 Blaze Binger and Blaze runs in the 2pt conversion. A great start to our game.
This week one of our leaders, Jackson Maynard gave a suggestion to one of our plays. This play with Jackson's suggestion ends with #11 Mason Tschetter running in a 25 yard run for a touchdown, and Jackson made the key block to break it wide open. Jackson also called a play right before halftime, which ended with #45 Erik Salmen running in a screen pass 47 yards out to score a touchdown. #62 Mikael Nielson and Jackson were leading the way. Mikael was all over the field; he did a great job as our nose guard this week. Our linemen are our foundation.
Overall, the team ended with 9 touchdowns and a safety. #3 Brendan Nowell threw five touchdown passes, ran one in, and ran back a kick-off return after an ILP safety. #45 Erik Salmen had three receiving touchdowns and one rushing. #8 Payton Chasing Hawk caught a nice ball for a 37 yard touchdown.
