Our Patriots Boys Basketball team is 1 and 3 for the second half of the season, 4 and 10 overall. When holding teams to 50 points or under we have won those games. We are still figuring out how to stop the easy bucket, often times letting teams drive through us or around us for lay-ups and those buckets are the ones that are winning most of these games. Our Patriots Boys Basketball team is still working and getting better, but we have a ways to go before any of us should be satisfied.
In the Redfield game we had three players in double digits scoring with #4 Patrick Maynard leading the way with 24 points, 14 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1 block. #5 Aiden Frankenstein had 12 points, 14 rebounds, and 1 assist as well. #3 Devin Enander had 14 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 1 steal. Redfield played us tough, but we were able to hold them off at the end for our first big win of the second half of the season 65 to 50.
In the Sully Buttes game we had three players in double digits too, but Sully Buttes couldn't miss on their end winning 47 to 68. #4 Patrick Maynard had 10 points, 13 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 block. #5 Aiden Frankenstein had 13 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 block. #3 Devin Enander had 13 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal.
In the James Valley Christian game we only had one player in double digits, #3 Devin Enander had 11 points, 10 rebounds, and 1 steal. In this game we allowed JVC to score 25 points on lay-ups and weren't willing to stop them. We lost 37 to 54, on a good note this is one of the lowest scoring games for JVC this season usually scoring high 60's and/or 70's.
At home in Hitchcock against Sunshine Bible Academy we lost 45 to 55. SBA played a great game and we couldn't make many of our buckets shooting 25% as a team. Two players made it in double figures: #3 Devin Enander with 19 points, 8 rebounds, and 1 steal. #4 Patrick Maynard had 13 points, 3 rebounds, 2 blocks, and 1 assist. Our goal was to hold #0 Trey Thieman to 10 points, but because of his great talent he scored 24 instead.
This last Saturday the varsity team was treated to Northern State Basketball Boys and Girls games and a meal by supportive grandparents of one of our players. We enjoyed the evening and appreciate their support of our team building; Thank you! We continue with another tough week ahead with Highmore-Harrold on Tuesday evening in Highmore and Wessington Springs at Wessington Springs on Thursday. We thank you for the support and ask for your continued support. Let's Go Patriots!
