The Patriots traveled to Highmore to take on the Pirates. The Patriots came out in the first set and never looked back winning the first set 25-20. The second set the Patriots faced some adversity as half way through the second set, the Patriots lost starting senior setter, Shandi Chasing Hawk, to an ankle injury. Back up setter Presley Binger took over the offense mid way through the second set. The Patriots battled right down to the last point, but eventually dropped the second set 22-25. The third set, the ladies couldn't get much going and fell 10-25. But, the Patriots were not done as they regrouped in the fourth set and came back and took that set 25-21. The fifth set found the Patriots getting down four points early on and could not overcome the deficit and they dropped the fifth set 11-15.
The Patriots were led by Katelyn Schroeder with 20 kills and Madison Hofer chipped in 10. To round out the scoring was Ella Johnson with 4 kills and Bethany Wiebe with 3 kills. Defensively, the Patriots had a good night. They were led by Schroeder with 27 digs and 4 solo blocks, Hofer had 16 digs, Danielle Nowell also had a huge night in the digs with 14, and Brooklyn Frankenstein chipped in with 11. With Chasing Hawk going down in the match early, Binger and Chasing Hawk split the setting on the net. Binger had 20 assists and Chasing Hawk with 14 assists on the night. Highlighting the serving for the Patriots was Kaycee Stoner off the bench with 2 aces. Bethany Wiebe, Hofer, and Binger also each had an ace serve.
The Patriots (4-7) will be back in action on Tuesday night as they head to Doland for a tilt with Iroquois/Doland. First serve is set for 5:00 with the Jr. High Match, followed by JV and Varsity.
