The Lady Patriots traveled to Doland to take on the Iroquois-Doland Chiefs. The Patriots got off to a strong start in the match with some key serving from Katelyn Schroeder. The Patriots used that momentum to take set one 25-7. In set two, the Patriots got off to a fast start and never looked back as the Patriots won set two 25-14. But the Chiefs, did not go down without a fight. The Patriots struggled with ball control most of set 3 and found themselves down 19-23 as Coach Opp called his final time out. The Patriots crawled their way back into the set and found themselves down 23-24 as the Chiefs used a time out. The Patriots finished off the match and set three with a thrilling 27-25 comeback win.
Leading the Patriots was Schroeder with 12 kills on the night. Madison Hofer and Ella Johnson chipped in 5 kills each. The Patriots were aggressive at the service line and it showed. Schroeder went 23 of 24 and had 5 aces. Hofer went 14 of 15 with 3 aces and Johnson went 7 of 8 with 2 aces. Shandi Chasing Hawk came back from her sprained ankle and ended up with 22 assists on the night. Defensively Hofer had 15 digs to lead the team. Brooklyn Frankenstein followed with 9.
The Patriots (5-7) will get a few days off, but will be back in action as they travel to Sioux Falls to participate in the Pentagon tournament. It will be an early morning, as first serve is set for 9:00 a.m against Alcester-Hudson. For the full tournament schedule, please follow the link below:
