Goal Accomplished -1st Round Play-off Win For The Patriots
About 12 weeks ago now, the Patriots set out with a number of goals for their season. One of them was to win their first play-off game. Yesterday was their opportunity to accomplish that goal and they did it by beating the Longhorns, 38 to 0. The Patriots had a short week, after battling the top team in the state for 9B, the Avon Pirates. The Patriots had to cut their preparation time by a day for this play-off game. Plus, you add in play-off football and you have another week with some adversity. The game against Faith was never in question even though the Longhorns battled all four quarters. The Patriots had a well balanced attack both defensively and offensively with a number of players doing well. The three players leading the defense in tackles for the game: Kyle Hamilton, Erik Salmen, and Riley Fliehe all having five solo tackles. Kyle Hamilton forced a fumble and Riley Fliehe was able to recover the fumble on a kick-off. TJ Salmen had four solo tackles, three for a loss, and one batted ball. Jacob Michlitsch had four solo tackles as well with one for loss. Landon Puffer had one interception with Mason Bottum returning it after the pitch for a number of yards. The offense kicked off their scoring with a run play lead by the left guard, Jacob Michlitsch who opened the door for Erik Salmen to run 64 yards for a touchdown. TJ Salmen caught a nice 35 yard pass from Landon Puffer in the end zone for another score. Landon Puffer ran 40 yards for a touchdown. Erik had another 6 yard run for a TD and Cole Schroeder made a nice catch for a 3 yard touchdown. Kyle Hamilton scored three of the 2 point conversions for the night. A well balanced attack. The Patriots thank you for all of the support, especially the senior families for their donation to the new mascot “Pat.” The Patriots play in Gettysburg Thursday October 28 at 7PM against Potter County Battlers. Go Patriots!
