In front of a big crowd in the Tulare, the Lady Patriots swept the Wessington Springs Spartans and picked up a victory to close out the regular season. The Patriots played one of their best matches of the year on parents night.
In set one, the Patriots built a lead and once led by 7 before Wessington Springs used a time out. The Spartans would make a run at the end of set one, before the Patriots would put set one away 25-22 and took 1-0 lead.
Set two was a little closer as both teams played point for point until the end of set when the Patriots put it away 25-23 and taking a 2-0 lead in the match.
Set 3, the Patriots would build an eight point lead. After a Spartans time-out, the Spartans would crawl their way back into the set and the Patriots found themselves only up by 4 points. The Patriots ultimately put the set away by winning 25-22 and taking the 3-0 victory.
Katelyn Schroeder had a huge night for the Patriots going 35-40 at the attack line and recording 24 kills; hitting a .475. Bethany Wiebe also had a nice night at the attack line as she recorded 8 kills. Ella Johnson chipped in 4 kills. Shandi Chasing Hawk orchestrated the offense and ended with 39 assists on the night.
Defensively, the Patriots were led by Brooklyn Frankenstein with 22 digs. Madison Hofer also came up with 20 digs. Danielle Nowell also came up big in the win with 14 digs.
Nowell also went 9-9 at the serving line. Chasing Hawk also had 5 aces in the win.
The Patriots (12-14) will have a little time off as they prepare to open up post-season play on Tuesday night. The Patriots will enter the region tournament as the number 6 seed and will travel to Castlewood to take on the number 3 seeded Warriors. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m. We hope to see a nice crowd in Castlewood to cheer on the ladies!
