The Patriots played host to the Aberdeen Christian Knights on Tuesday in Tulare and picked up a 3-0 victory.
In the first set, the Patriots came firing on all cylinders as they would build a 13 point lead behind some aggressive serving. The Knights would come roaring back as the Patriots lead disappeared. The Patriots would eventually put the set away by a score of 25-20.
In set two, the Patriots would jump out to a 5 point early lead, only to see it disappear. The two teams would play almost point for point as Patriots would put set two away 25-21.
In the final set of the night, the Patriots took a lead and never looked back. Once again, serving was the difference in the set as the Patriots would use some aggressive serves to get some aces and get the Knights out of system. The Patriots went on to dominate set three 25-12, and win the match 3-0.
In the match, the Patriots would rack up 12 service aces behind Cambree Hoekman. She was 27-29 serving with 6 aces and Ella Johnson would go 15-16 with 4 aces. Offensively, the middles of Isabel Gilbert and Rebecca Huizenga, would lead the team with 6 and 7 kills respectively. Presley Binger and Gracyn Bixler would record 9 and 7 assists on the night running the offense. Hoekman came up big leading the defense with 13 digs. Gilbert also played big at the net defensively recording 2 solo blocks and 2 assist blocks in the win.
The Patriots, 5-8, are right back at home on Thursday night as they take on 281 conference foe, the Highmore-Harrold Pirates, in a pivotal conference match. Matches begin in Hitchcock with the Jr. High at 5:15, followed by the JV and Varsity.
